At the Language Center, students from around the world come together to learn English in a supportive community. Before enrollment, each student’s English proficiency is evaluated by our language specialist, who estimates the time needed to achieve fluency and join the mainstream program. Classes, led by Cambridge CELTA-certified teachers, maintain a 1:10 teacher-student ratio to maximize individual support. With three levels of instruction for Grades 7-10 and assessments held three times per year, students progress at their own pace toward fluency, developing skills across reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Instruction covers foundational literary devices and elements, facilitating a smooth transition to mainstream classes.
To enhance real-world communication skills, students engage in field trips and cultural visits. The Language Center also offers concurrent instruction in Math, Science, and History at appropriate grade levels, ensuring students are academically prepared for full integration into Kells High School. Students have access to extracurricular programs, including sports teams, clubs, and special events, and participate in the FLEX program, where they can explore activities like chess, yoga, cinematography, and robotics.
