Your Home Away from Home at Kells

At Kells, we proudly welcome international students into a dynamic and supportive community where they can thrive both academically and personally. With a warm atmosphere and a comprehensive program, Kells offers international students a meaningful educational journey that prepares them for university and beyond.

Whether you're seeking a short-term cultural experience or a full academic journey, Kells offers flexible options — including the ability to attend for just one semester. Both homestay and residence accommodations are available to suit students' needs. Life at Kells is full of opportunities for connection, creativity, and exploration. International students are fully immersed in our vibrant school culture through  clubs, extracurriculars, and seasonal outings—from sports and ski trips to Book Club and Student Council. Academically, they’re integrated into mainstream classes for some subjects, while also receiving intensive language instruction at the Language Center.

Our Language Center is dedicated to helping students advance their English fluency through personalized, skill-based instruction. To ease the transition, we provide remote English testing before arrival, allowing for smooth placement into the appropriate ESL level right from the start. Our goal is to strengthen each student’s language abilities and readiness so they can confidently transition into mainstream English Language Arts classes as soon as possible. Learn more about our ESL program here.

Students also benefit from studying in one of the world’s most bilingual cities — Montreal — where exposure to both English and French is a natural part of daily life. Kells offers French classes at different levels, allowing students to continue building their French skills or start learning from the basics, depending on their prior experience.

With over 45 nationalities represented, Kells is a truly multicultural community where every student feels at home.

Opening Doors to a Kells Academy Education

Since 1978, Kells Academy has provided a quality education to thousands of students, each with their own unique background, story, and strengths. We believe that every student deserves an education that sets them up for success in the future. That is why Kells is proud to offer financial assistance in the form of bursaries. These monetary awards offset the cost of tuition for students with a demonstrated need. Due to the limited amount of assistance resources, bursaries are issued on a case-by-case basis.

 Apple Financial Services

Eligibility

Financial aid is available for grades K-11.

Due to limited resources, students must be Canadian citizens or permanent residents in order to qualify for financial aid. We hope to broaden our eligibility criteria in the future as the Kells Financial Aid program grows.

During the bursary application process, families wishing to be considered must demonstrate financial need using supporting documentation. A list of supporting documentation can be found here.

Application Process

-Please begin your application at www.applefinancialservices.ca

-The online application, including a non-refundable application fee of $130.00, is submitted directly through the Apple Financial Services website.

-Kells Academy conducts a thorough analysis of the supporting documentation submitted by the applicant.

Please note that the application process is completely confidential. The Financial Aid Committee assesses all submissions. Any monetary assistance provided by the school is considered to be a bursary that goes towards the Kells tuition fees; it does not need to be repaid.

We are proud to announce that Kells Academy is launching a Sport-Études program in Fall 2025. The Sport-Études program for grade 7 and 8 students is designed for elite athletes who wish to receive a top-tier education while training and competing in high-level sports.

The Sport-Études program is unique in North America. It is endorsed by the Ministry of Education in partnership with provincial sports federations. Through a personalized approach, student athletes are supported in their academic and athletic development. At Kells, we are committed to an individualized approach to teaching and learning; this new program offering is yet another way that Kells empowers students to find out what success means to them.

Parent Testimonial

My son had an amazing experience as a student at Kells. Then, he was accepted into Sport-Études Soccer at a school that is more than one hour away from home. Nathan is both Canadian and American, and wants to go to college in the US on a sports scholarship. Therefore, he wants to study in English, and ideally closer to home. He cannot wait to come back once the Sport-Études curriculum has started at Kells!
