Physical Education & Sports

Athletic participation and competition are an important part of the Kells experience and all students are encouraged to get involved through physical education classes, intramural sports and competitive teams.

The intent of the physical education program is to enable all students to enhance their quality of life through promotion of active living, exposure to a wide variety of activities and the development of appropriate skills and attitudes.

Through participation on competitive teams, students learn dedication, sportsmanship, teamwork and perseverance. Moreover, they learn that success is measured in making a commitment and rising to the challenge, regardless of the outcome. In addition, interpersonal and leadership skills are emphasized and the opportunity to develop personal fitness is encouraged.

Intramural and Drop-in activities are available throughout the school year as well for students who are looking for extra recreational time, in a non-competitive atmosphere. Various inter-school tournaments are organized as well as recreational clubs and drop in gym times.
