TECH-SAVVY LEARNING

Technology is helping students and teachers alike, both inside and outside the classroom

More and more, technology has crept into every facet of our lives, and this is especially true when it comes to teaching. Technology has allowed the classroom to expand exponentially beyond its four walls, and has enabled both teachers and students to explore all corners of the globe — and beyond.

From iPad programs and techsavvy clubs to software that caters to the student’s learning capabilities, technology is making it possible for schools to teach their students in a very hands-on way — and administrators are enthusiastic about this change.

“We are very excited about what we’re doing with technology,” said Irene Woods, headmaster of Kells Academy.

“Technology is the equalizer and gives students so many ways to learn.

“It takes the drudgery out of the drill and practice, and makes learning much more user-friendly. And (teachers are) no longer dependent just on their knowledge but can pull in the best from all over the world and share that with their students. It broadens the whole discussion in terms of the classroom, and technology really gives students a new way of learning.”
